Share Knowledge . Learn Skills . Create Friendships

Welcome to Shedquarters

Shedquarters is a Men’s Shed located near Sonning Common in South Oxfordshire.

Our mission is to reduce loneliness and isolation as experienced by older people. We bring together men and women to share knowledge, learn new skills and to make new friends.

We can be found in our Shed, located in the carpark alongside Peppard War Memorial Hall in Gallowstree Road, Peppard Common, RG9 5JA.

We are now open, but we are still getting organised! Come along, meet like minded people, have a chat and see what we are doing – its great fun!

Background

Sheila, the one in the middle, had the idea to create a place where older people, especially men, can meet, share experiences, learn new skills and create friendships.

With a group of friends, and after lots of fundraising, Shedquarters is here! We are very grateful to the individuals, companies and organisations who have supported us – they are listed on our Supporters page.

After much searching for suitable premises, we acquired a lease on a small patch of disused land next to Peppard War Memorial Hall. We then set about building and fitting out our new Men’s Shed.

What we do

Our Shed is a welcoming place for people to come together – to chat, to make things and to drink tea! We have a range of woodworking tools and equipment for our members to use. We plan to have some metalworking tools, and to use the Shed for other creative art and crafting activities too. We offer training in the use of hand and powered tools for beginners and we are full of ideas about things to make, regardless of your skill level or experience. Members are free to work on their own projects, or to join in with Shed-wide projects to raise money for running the Shed and to help the wider community too.

The Shed is nearly ready for operation (we won’t say finished, as that will never happen), so we are now open more days per week. See our Contact Us page for details. This is when you will find us continuing to fit out the shed, building benches and shelves, sorting through donated tools and generally doing the things that need to be done before we can get fully operational. Come along and help out!

We are a member of the UK Men’s Sheds Association. If you want to know more about Men’s Sheds go to their web site and see what other sheds are doing. Alternatively just come along and discover what we are up to. If you like what you see you can join us – view our membership page for more information.
